For quite a while during my last bout of major depression which also contained a lot of anxiety I was unable to watch television without getting thrown off. Everything was either too violent or too stupid. When one has a mind that doesn’t shut up one approach is to drown it out by watching mindless entertainment on the television. My wife likes to escape from her concerns by watching so called “reality television”. I’m always surprised at the crap that she watches because she is an intelligent woman but hey, whatever it takes to get one through the day is better than falling into depression or a constant state of fear and anxiety. I guess I’m getting better because her shows don’t anger me as much as they used to.
Tonight I actually found her watching a new show. I noticed that the people on the screen were all good looking and naked. They’re sex organs and the womans’ breasts were blurred, but their butts weren’t. So I sat down and watched for a little while. Just when I thought we’d gone as low as we could go with Honey Boo Boo, VH1 comes out with “Dating Naked”. So far I didn’t see and hear too much cackling and fighting that usually turns me off in other “reality” television shows like “The Jersey Shore”, “The Kardishians”, and the “Housewives of Manhattan”, so that made the show bearable. So I’m going to suggest VH1’s “Dating Naked” to all of my friends who need a break from the chatter in their heads. Sometimes mindlessness is a blessing. Here’s some of what’s on VH1’s website:
While Cole and Juliet shared their UK connection and couldn’t stop laughing, Lovey tried to heat things up with Sean who was giving her the ice cold shoulder. Sean thought things turned around for him when he met Jackie, and Juliet hoped to build a deeper connection with her attractive third date Patrick.
Juliet thought the connection she had with Patrick was deep, but found it was super shallow when Patrick and Lovey hit it off. After all her tears Juliet realized the right decision was choosing Cole, and Sean learned the hard way being jerk never pays off. He choose Jackie, and Jackie chose to go home still single.
