Your Body Is Talking To You

I have friend who has been dealing with sciatica for many months. He is as Type-A personality who had a father that to him was a mountain of a man. I find that most boys who have good relationships with their fathers usually want to be just like them in some or many ways. This can be a positive experience if the child (including adult children) sees the whole Truth about his/her father, but that is often not the case. They see the part that the father wanted them to see and not the rest. In this process of trying to emulate the unemulatable the child suffers. In many cases this suffering is both mental (feelings of failure, worthlessness, anxiety, etc.) or physical (manifestations of all inflammatory and other diseases, and chronic problems with muscles and joints), and other physical manifestations that fall under the category of disease (dis ease) as opposed to an infectious disease of a birth-defect.). Our bodies are talking to us. We need to listen to them before they are permanently damaged. Here is the note I wrote to my friend:

“Dear ______, We have to get this sciatica under control. You have been working against the natural flow of life by trying to power through everything as I believe you saw your father do. You have told me that your father had “big shoulders”. This is true, but I can assure you that it is not Truth. Your father suffered just like the rest of us and he had to have cared for himself in order to carry on carring for other with Grace and dignity. I would like to help you do that for yourself through consultation and meditation. You don’t need to keep suffering. Your body is telling you something and you know what it is but you don’t want to face it so you just keep on trying to power through a wall that is inpenitrable. Once you accept this you will change and you will feel better, get stronger, and experience that freedom and Grace that you once had. You have a high tolorance for pain but it is not limitless. For those “strong ones” with a high tolerance for pain the lessons of life come harder and harder and hopefully these “strong people” wake up before it’s too late. You are not immortal. “When the pain of the pain is greater than the pain of the change, that’s when you will change.”
